Owner Phyllis Giovinco has had over 20 years' experience in the salon business. She started out in New York at Henri Bendel's Department Store on 57th St. and at Hair Power on St. Mark's Place. She then went on to own two salons in Hoboken for a total of 10 years, where she was the primary stylist for actor Chris Cooper.

While working at Yellow Strawberry Salon in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Phyllis received advanced training in color with Flo and Jessie Briggs of Haircolor USA. She had additional advanced training with Goldwell Color and Tahe (of Spain).

For the next seven years, before opening Gio Salon, Phylis worked in Basking Ridge Salon. She has been a resident of Lambertville for the past nine years, and saw a need for quality hair services at a moderate cost. GIO now offers waxing, manicure, and pedicure services in addition to the standard repertoire.
